What is "DADOES"?
DADOES is a acronym for the 1968 book: Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
Some people claim that the reissued book pictured above is a publisher rip-off to capitalize on the movie's success. This accusation is wrong for the following reasons (hover here)
Around page 97 during the investigation of Luba Luft, Deckard is accused of being an android shortly before Luba reports him to the police. Then we learn of a second police station and a second set of bounty hunters. This flip, and what happens next, is the whole basis for wondering "who is human vs. who is an android". Then for a time, we think that bounty hunter "Phil" is an android but then learn that he is a human with much less empathy than Deckard (and this gets Deckard thinking that Luba contributed to human culture than bounty hunters)
What is "Blade Runner"?
Blade Runner
is a 1982 movie by Ridley Scott which is loosely based upon the book: Do Androids Dream Of Electric
Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. A Blade Runner is a bounty hunter tasked to terminate rogue androids (replicants).
To add to the confusion, after the movie was released, book publishers started selling Do Androids
Dream Of Electric Sheep? with the cover title Blade Runner

Rachael seems to need social interactions and personal relationships. In this way she is becoming very human. comment: in many ways, she seemed more human than anyone else in this film. Perhaps we humans should call up for a Voight-Kampff empathy test. |

| Nexus-8 | Nexus-8 replicants were manufactured by the Wallace Corporation which acquired Tyrell patents and holdings after the great war. However, it appears that an EMP destroyed Tyrell IP which means that Nexus-8 units cannot reproduce. |
Additional Comments:
- Ridley Scott must have realized that audience-goers would have felt pain watching actors play the part of low IQ humans
(specials; chicken-heads; ant-heads).
Therefore, Ridley Scott is not a replicant :-)
- I have never been able to understand why many people today prefer relationships with animals to relationships
with people (or any sentient beings).
- Perhaps they desire any kind of relationship based upon unconditional love or attention.
- Deckard is no better. Intellectually speaking, valueless androids with no rights like Rachael Rosen or Luba Luft, would be much better companions than an electric-sheep, real goat, ostrich, or horse.
- On top of that, these androids "might" be better companions than Deckard's wife who, like a drug user, is continually escaping into her own world via the Penfield Mood Organ and/or Mercer Empathy Box.
- Rachael knows this as well. On P.202 we read :
context: P.196 Rachael and Deckard just finished making love; P.196 she says "in my opinion you took advantage of me"; P.197 Deckard says "If I could legally marry you, I would"
Later, she makes her point. Both androids and animals are property (with no rights) so she kills the goat to force Deckard to change his point of view (he does not but perhaps we readers can)
quote: P.202 "That goat." Rachael said. "You love the goat more than me. More than you love your wife, probably. First the goat, then your wife, then last of all---" She laughed merrily "What can you do but laugh?"
- One bounty hunter, Phil Resch, fails the Voight-Kampff test even though he is human. I am now beginning to think that all
bounty hunters have little, to no, empathy.
- Wilder Penfield (January 26, 1891 – April 5, 1976) was a Montreal-based neurosurgeon who did brain research on conscious patients. He was famous for using small electrical probes to stimulate various areas of the brains and I am fairly certain that this is where Philip Dick got the name for the Mood Organ which is sometimes just referred to as "A Penfield"
